First-of-its kind list will highlight the U.S. companies that do the most exceptional job caring for their people and the world.
November 22, 2016 (San Francisco, Calif.) –In the first-ever Companies That Care list, Great Place to Work® and PEOPLE magazine are proud to recognize 50 businesses that have proven that it’s possible to do well and do good. The list, which will be published in the April 10, 2017 issue of PEOPLE, will honor companies that have succeeded in business while also demonstrating respect, compassion and concern for their employees, their communities and the environment.
“We are excited to work with PEOPLE magazine to highlight the most positive, caring experiences at the great workplaces we work with,” says Kim Peters, Executive Vice President at Great Place to Work. “We seek to inspire companies to be great workplaces for all employees, and know that people want to work at these companies. We’re excited about bringing the stories of these great, caring workplaces to PEOPLE’s vast audience.”
Great Place to Work will select companies for the ranking based on over 440,000 employee responses to survey questions asking them to rate how their companies treat them on a day-to-day basis. The list also will take into account employees' personal stories about the difference their workplaces have made in their lives and in their communities -- and the generosity of organizations’ benefits, financial donations and volunteerism.
PEOPLE will publish the list as well as in-depth features on a number of the Companies That Care.
The Companies That Care ranking is one of many Best Workplaces lists produced by Great Place to Work. Most of these are published in partnership with PEOPLE’s sister publication, FORTUNE, based on employee survey feedback from Great Place to Work-Certified™ organizations.
