“Social Workplace Trust Study” launched by Human 1.0, Great Place to Work and Society for New Communications Research

Study explores the intersection of Trust, Engagement and Social Media in the Workplace

San Francisco – Social media in the workplace remains a hot topic for today’s businesses.  While some restrict, police, and fear its use, many companies embrace social media as a tool for delivering customer service, enhancing brand reputation, increasing interaction and collaboration among employees, and more.

Workplace culture consultants, Great Place to Work, in conjunction with social business and consulting research firm, Human 1.0 and the Society of New Communications Research, announce a new study designed to shed light on these and other questions of keen interest to anyone concerned with employee engagement, recruitment and retention, and people-powered competitive advantage.

“Companies are getting hip to the role social media can play in enhancing internal communications, along with creating a likeable and relatable external identify for a company or brand,” offers Great Place to Work CEO, Susan Lucas-Conwell.  “What we’re noticing is that companies that are great workplaces, and sport high-trust workplace cultures, enjoy more social media success.  We’re excited to partner with Human 1.0 and test this hypothesis.”

“Most organizations cut their social media teeth through marketing, and by now, the value of engaging with customers directly and non-stop is clear.  The organization itself is the next frontier,” said Janet Swaysland, a Human 1.0 advisor and project leader of the study.  “We’re so pleased to be working with Great Place to Work to provide another lens, with insights on the trust, beliefs and behavior that drive social media success in the workplace.”

“Social Workplace Trust” survey is now open to employees of all levels at companies of any size and across all industries.  A direct link to the survey is here [www.socialworkplacetrust.com]. The full study will also include in-depth interviews.  Results will be published in early fall.
