Transparency has never been more important than in today’s workplace. Providing clarity into how your business is doing, how it’s run, being open about company mistakes and successes, and what's important to the organization helps to develop not only trust among customers and employees, but also establishes a baseline of confidence needed for a cohesive, engaging company. Similarly, companies from Apple to Twitter have made diversity a focal point of their organizations. However, more goes into creating a successful business than just initiatives like open book management, transparency and diversity -- these elements need to be integrated and informed by values that are authentic to the company and its employees.

In this session, Heather Brunner, CEO of WP Engine will share how the organization has built their values and instilled them in a way that every employee tends to their culture. The results speak for itself -- 30% of the company's employees do not have a formal degree qualification, 30% of the company is comprised of women and 30% of employees are non-white. This has created an environment where everyone feels supported, everyone can be their authentic self, everyone understands what their role is and everyone knows what success looks like. Heather will outline the benefits to having an open book management and operationalizing transparency that sets the baseline for confidence and clarity for a cohesive, engaged company through the foundation of shared values.

Three key learning objectives:

  • Understand how management and operational transparency is essential to setting the stage for a cohesive, engaging company.
  • The role of shared values that help to create a company influenced by a transparent culture and how to engage senior leadership to help implement these values.
  • How “diversity attracts diversity” – learning the steps that companies can take in attracting and growing a diverse workforce, and the positive effects it has on not only on the business, but the employees themselves.
