The Future of the Workplace

Early this week we discussed a study that revealed a Workplace Divide. The majority of senior executives believe that compensation and financial performance affect company culture, while employees believe that candid communication and employee recognition are more important aspects of a successful workplace culture.

This can be good news to companies who are interested in strengthening their workplace culture and are low in cash. One, now that we have a more accurate picture of what employees expect in terms of culture, companies can begin taking steps to move closer to that goal. And two, it’s not going to cost them a whole lot.

For instance, a recent survey conducted by Cisco Systems found that 40% of respondents would accept a lower-paying job that had more flexibility with regard to device choice, social media access and mobility.

Cisco Systems, a company known for always being on the cutting edge of technology and winner of the Best Companies to Work For® list competition fifteen years running, recently surveyed 3,000 students and young professionals.
